This series consists of annual reports from the Secretary of the Department of Mines and Energy to the recently established Northern Territory Government as required by the Mining Act. The department had its origins out of the Mines Branch of the Northern Territory but expanded to include components of energy policies and the supervision of industrial safety. The Department of Mines and Energy continued as a department in this form until 2001.
